Story A Day – Rules of Engagement [Story A Day]

Last year I wanted to do my own little NaNoWriMo thing, but I wasn’t really committed, and so I didn’t do anything. I’ve recently heard about another writing challenge called Story A Day. Basically “every” day in the month of May I’m going to start and finish a new story. According to the rules what I define as a story and a day is up to me. So to set things straight, I’ve defined my rules for participating in the Story A Day challenge.
- Write a story Monday – Friday. Saturday and Sunday will be used for a break.
- If a day of the week is missed due to a heavy work load the weekend may be used to “make it up”.
- Stories will be short stories and flash fiction due to the limited time each day.
- Stories will be posted on InnerThought then noted on StoryADay.
- Story ideas can come from my own story prompts, from StoryADay prompts, or from the various prompts from podcasts.
Since the first day of May is a Sunday I’ve decided not to write a story today, since I’ve set that as one of my rules, but instead make a declaration that I will be writing a story every (week) day this month starting tomorrow. Day 1 for me starts tomorrow and I wonder what story will come about.
